HAIL….I said the word…the word that all roofing companies get excited over and property owners, homeowners, and business owners…don’t.

Hail season is upon us and we’re sharing some tips and tricks as to how your roofing company can maximize your roofing efforts during this time.

Hail Forecasting:
Stay informed about weather forecasts and hail predictions in your area. Pay attention to local meteorological reports, hail tracking services, or National Weather Service alerts. This will help you anticipate potential hail events and be prepared for increased demand for your services.

Impact on Roofing Materials:
Understand how hail can affect different roofing materials. Hailstones can cause damage to asphalt shingles, metal roofs, tile roofs, and other roofing systems. Learn about the vulnerabilities and common signs of hail damage for each material to accurately assess and provide appropriate repairs or replacements.

Insurance Claims Process:

Familiarize yourself with the insurance claims process for hail damage. Understand the documentation and evidence required to support claims, as well as the specific guidelines and procedures of different insurance providers. This knowledge will enable you to assist your clients in navigating the claims process effectively. Maybe even start working with adjusting companies!

Safety Precautions:
Hailstorms often come with high winds, lightning, and other hazardous conditions. Prioritize safety by ensuring your team is equipped with the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and trained in safety protocols. Monitor weather updates closely and know when it's necessary to halt work or seek shelter to avoid unnecessary risks.

Inspection Techniques:
Develop expertise in hail damage inspection techniques. Learn how to identify the signs of hail damage, such as dents, cracks, granule loss, or punctures. This will allow you to provide accurate assessments and estimates to your clients.

Emergency Response and Timeliness:
Hail damage requires prompt attention to mitigate further problems. Develop a system for efficiently responding to hail damage requests and prioritize timely repairs or replacements. Establishing a reputation for quick response times can strengthen customer satisfaction and referrals.

Hail-Resistant Roofing Materials:
Stay updated on the latest advancements in hail-resistant roofing materials. Familiarize yourself with the options available and their benefits. Educate your clients about the advantages of these materials in terms of durability and resilience to hail damage.

Networking with Insurance Providers:
Build relationships with insurance providers that specialize in hail damage coverage. Establishing connections with adjusters and building trust can lead to a stream of referrals and a smoother claims process for your clients.

Continued Education and Training:
Stay informed about industry best practices and advancements through continuous education and training. Attend workshops, seminars, or conferences related to roofing and hail damage to enhance your knowledge and skills.

Marketing and Communication:
Use the hail season as an opportunity to market your services and educate your audience. Share informative content through your website, social media platforms, or newsletters, focusing on topics like hail damage prevention, signs of damage, and the importance of timely repairs.

By staying informed, prepared, and proactive during hail season, you can position your roofing business as a trusted and reliable expert in handling hail damage repairs and replacements.
